Global SCO market grows by 23% in 2009
The results of the 2010 edition of the annual Global EPOS and Self-Checkout study, published by RBR (www.rbrlondon.com/retail), show that the number of self‑checkout (SCO) terminals reached 111,400 by the end of 2009. The report also shows that the number of SCOs installed worldwide increased by 23% during 2009, despite the adverse effects of the global recession on retail IT budgets. Moreover, RBR forecasts that by the end of 2015, the number of SCO installations around the world will more than triple to 381,800.
