INSIDE TEST TOOLS
Payments Cards and Mobile is delighted to welcome you back
to its second supplement on Test Tools.
The area of test tools is too often neglected in the wider payments industry but their purpose is three fold. Firstly to evolve with the industry and any new technologies, standards and interoperability which allows other vendors and manufacturers to beta test their equipment as soon as it is ready and thus increase speed to market.
Secondly, test tools ensure security of the equipment used by everyday users and merchants for payments. An aspect of the industry which is certainly taken for granted and brutally exposed when it fails.
Thirdly test tools are deployed within the industry to keep costs lower – a fact which in today’s world should make the topic more popular. The earlier the identification of faults is discovered, the more the costs are reduced. The aim is always to avoid modifications of the infrastructure post launch as they are expensive and time consuming.
In this supplement we explore how closely test tools are embedded in the payments industry and the role that they play supporting all of the sectors to enable innovation, safety
and cost savings.
I would like to thank all those who have helped to contribute to better understanding how this crucial element of the payments industry stays so closely linked to the payments technology of the past, present and future.
I hope you enjoy this short guide to Test Tools.
